Working with her now?

Advice when working with Karrie Damm, LMFT

If you are currently working with Karrie Damm-Stewart due to a court-ordered case, protect yourself.

  1. Get a copy of all the paperwork. Confirm she is the child or children’s therapist.
  2. Tape record all sessions. You are in a single-party consent state. You can tape-record any conversation you have. You can do sessions via video and tape record all sessions. If you do so, do not share your “tapes” with anyone but your attorney. It’s likely allowed on Cross.
  3. Take your time answering questions. Give answers that you need to give, not what she asks. And if you don’t know, say you don’t know, or you don’t remember.
  4. Stay calm.
  5. She’s not a judge. She cannot threaten you. CPS is well aware of her actions. “She has a reputation for doing this stuff”.
  6. Be prepared for her to misrepresent what other therapists tell her.
  7. Be prepared for Karrie Damm to misrepresent the facts in her court submissions.
  8. Parental Alienation is dangerous in cases of domestic violence and substance use disorder, as in my case.
  9. If you are a victim of domestic violence, you can file for an order of protection in your county.
  10. Last bit – it’s all a business. Everyone’s in this for the money. Very few attorneys are in this for the child. We’ve met a few who are for the child. They are wonderful.
